The St Peter’s Experience
St Peter’s is a safe, caring, academically ambitious school, where children flourish, developing their skills and God-given talents. Children advance their powers of reason and their creativity, they learn through discovery and grow to analyse, innovate, solve problems, collaborate and communicate well with others.
We work closely with parents and carers to ensure that the children have high expectations and we recognise and celebrate success at every level and in every field. We believe that as children develop confidence and resilience they love to learn and can learn to love.
Starting School is an anxious time for both children and parents. We will make it as enjoyable and easy as possible. Early in the term before the children start the parents and carers will be invited to a meeting where we will inform them of all they need to know about the school. There is also an opportunity to ask questions. Prior to entry to the Reception class, the children will be invited to spend time in the school, in order for them to begin to get to know their teacher and to familiarise themselves with the classroom.
The Catholic Life of the School
Religious Education is at the heart of life at St Peter’s School. It is a subject in its own right, learned by all pupils and students. A Catholic school is much more than just Religious Education lessons; the Catholic Faith informs the values and practices throughout the school. Not all our children are Catholic but they (and their parents /carers) are expected to acknowledge those values and the pupils to participate in the religious and liturgical life of the school. We have a Chaplaincy team who lead and facilitate our prayer and worship and have regular visits from the local Catholic priests.
