The Mathematics Department are committed to create a breadth of understanding within our students across the board to enable them to have a solid foundation on which to build towards GCSE qualifications.
As the government changes the way in which it wants students to be assessed we must remain flexible in this regard, and our students will currently be taking all examinations at the end of Year 11 following the Edexcel course.
We feel that it is important that the way in which our students are assessed does not impact upon the ethos behind how they are taught. More than just securing students excellent grades we are invested on developing their individuality in Mathematics, as well as their logical thinking and problem solving skills.
All students are provided with an overview of the course they are following outlining the topics to be covered and encouraging them to track their own progress, taking a greater ownership of their own learning.
