Art Teacher, Mrs Cherrett and ten art students proudly took their giant sculptures down to Southbourne High Street for Southbourne’s first ever carnival and lantern parade. They were all very honoured to win the ‘Best Walking Float’ and to be presented with a certificate and rosette by the Mayor of Bournemouth.
Mrs Cherrett said, “The night itself was very windy and we were all worried that the Goddess sculpture might not make it in one piece, but with a lot of teamwork by the students and parents alike we managed to hold onto our creations and show them off to the community of Southbourne which lined the streets. They looked amazing lit up in the dark and they definitely fulfilled the brief set by one of the organisers to…‘light up a dark November night’. The students were a credit to our school and did brilliantly from construction to parade. Well done to everyone involved.”
