On 19 January, the Editor of the Bournemouth Echo, Andy Martin, came into assembly to speak to Year 7 and 8 about his role as the Editor. He told the students stories from his childhood and other information about his job and life. He told us all the things he had to do as the Editor and what it involved.
A few students, including myself, got to ask a few questions about what it involved to work for a newspaper. Some asked questions to do with the technical things that are done within the job and others asked about what it was like to do independent/freelance journalism and whether you ever had to go abroad for some reports. The visit was a really good opportunity for the students to find out what it’s like to have jobs and work for big companies.
