St Peter’s Sixth Form students were celebrating again this year on results day. With around 360 exam entries this year, 42% of grades were A* to B and well over three-quarters of results were at grade C or above. One fifth of the grades came in as A* or A. Nine students achieved exclusively A* and/or A results.
Staff and students were extremely proud of their achievements, which were better than last year’s results. “The overall pass rate improved to 99.2% and this is despite the uncertainty of new ‘A’ level courses and the volatility of grade boundaries,” commented Headteacher, David Todd. “These results are an improvement on last year, with our A* to C figure increasing by 12 percentage points.”
The results from our art and photography students were particularly poignant this year. They were the year group in Paris for an art exhibition during the Bataclan terrorist attacks, in a restaurant just a mile from the wave of shootings in the area where terrorists attacked. Their experiences and time together had a profound effect on them and their work. All the students achieved above a B grade in photography with 5 students achieving A* grades.
