Last week, the St Peter’s Music Department organised a musical evening in which pupils from the St Peter’s primary through to the upper school performed famous songs relating to Apartheid, by legendary artists. Songs such as ‘Thimlela’ by Hugh Masakela and ‘Lively Up Yourself’ by Bob Marley were presented to a large audience by a whole school band and choir, with help from some external instrumentalists and the music teachers themselves.
As it was a sunny day, the concert was conducted outdoors with picnic benches, picnic rugs and a party tent for the band. There was also a special South African barbecue selling delicious sausages! The evening went down as a hit with the parents, and the students enjoyed the whole show!
