St Peter’s School has been awarded Leadership Academy status in recognition of its contribution to the development of Sport Leadership throughout the wider community for the past 20 years led by Mrs Kilkenny-Browne. St Peter’s has developed a range of creative ideas which go beyond the learning outcomes of the Sports Leaders UK Leadership awards and qualifications, and offers the learners a pathway of additional opportunities, and a package of initiatives that motivate and inspire them to take part in sports leadership and volunteering programmes. The School has evolved the courses into much more than ‘just a sports leadership course’ and Sports Leaders UK has recognised this as good practice.
Tuesday April 21 Rob Guy, Sports Leaders UK Operations Manager West Midlands, South West and Wales came to St Peter’s to present the Sports Leadership Academy Plaque. He was joined on the day by Peter Waterfield, Sky Living for Sport Mentor.
St Peter’s has also been shortlisted for Sports Leaders UK’s Leadership Academy of the Year Award (Secondary category), and Mrs Kilkenny-Browne has been invited to the annual ceremony, Give more. Become More at the House of Lords, on Thursday 11 June.
