St Peter’s School excels again

IMG_4489Students, parents and staff were celebrating at St Peter’s as the A level results emerged for the 300 anxious recipients on Thursday.

St Peter’s has significantly improved its overall pass rate for A level to 99.2% (above the national rate of 98%).

There were some stunning individual performances and outstanding subject results. In Geography, for example, over half of the 15 students achieved A* grades. Overall for the year group nearly three-quarters of results are above grade C.

The Year 12 AS results also improved this year – over one-third of all results achieving A or B grades. A quarter of Chemistry results were A grades and one in five of our Physics students achieved A grades. Twelve of the 24 students studying advanced level Health and Social Care also achieved the top A grade.

Headteacher, Mr Todd said, “We are delighted again with our strong record of Advanced level results. St Peter’s has a tradition of producing impressive outcomes for students not only in the mainstream ‘facilitating’ subjects like English, Mathematics, Sciences and Humanities, but also more vocational subjects like Health and Social Care and Performing Arts.”

Mrs Middleton, Head of Sixth Form, was equally overjoyed at the results. “We have worked hard with the students to ensure that they achieved above expectations. For example, today we have seen 25 A* grades and 40 A grades; however, according to the students’ target grades, based on national statistical progress measures, this year group should have achieved 3 A grades and no A*s grades. Our students are moving on to top universities thanks to the high quality teaching and support at St Peter’s”
