On Tuesday 9 June, ten Year 8 students embarked on a trip to Southampton University to develop their understanding of languages and cultures. For the first part of the day the pupils designed a poster for wearable technology, entirely in French. There were two winners – Lauren South’s group, (‘Une Grenouillere Technologique’) and Miguel Gonzalez’s group (‘Des Chaussures Volaites’). They made St Peter’s very proud.
After lunch the students had a taster lesson in a different language – Bulgarian, Chinese, Japanese, Italian or Russian. Everyone enjoyed themselves and would love to have another opportunity to explore different languages and cultures. Each child received a ‘European Union passport’, describing in detail all the countries in Europe.
Thanks go to Mrs Freemantle who organised the trip and drove the minibus, also to Mr Macklen who accompanied Mrs Freemantle.
