World Book Day

The secondary library celebrated World Book Day with a Roald Dahl theme last week. The day started with over forty students from Year 8 and Sixth Form taking part in their weekly reading mentoring session in the library.
Throughout the day, students could swap their World Book Day vouchers for the £1 World Book Day books, buy books from a second-hand pop-up book stall and anyone lucky enough to find a golden ticket hidden around the school were rewarded with a treat from the library.
Students from all year groups also enjoyed the lunchtime celebrations in the library by taking part in all the quizzes, activities and the tombola. Winning entries are on display in the library.
Thank you to the art department who also held a special lunchtime World Book Day-themed doodle club.
A big thank you to all who came along and helped to make it, in Roald Dahl's words, a really "whoopsy whiffling" day, even Miss Trunchbull would have enjoyed it!
All proceeds from the book sale and tombola go to the Reaching the Unreached Brother Lionel fund.
Happy reading, The library
